ABOUT

Amy Keevy is an artist, art director, digital creator and brand consultant based in South Africa.

Amy Keevy was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, and graduated with a B-Tech in Fine Art from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2009. She now lives and works in The Garden Route as an artist, photographer, and brand and marketing freelancer. She has presented two solo shows and participated in several group exhibitions.

Amy’s work –– in undulating watercolour, ink, and embroidery on paper or canvas –– primarily explores colour, the female form, and the phases of the moon, reflecting how these elements affect her. Using warm tones of ochre, rust, and flesh, she embraces the unexpected changes that emerge through wet ink and intricate stitching. Her embroidery art draws inspiration from the rich tradition of needlework, historically a vital form of creative expression for women. Merging this with her contemporary designs, Amy creates pieces that combine the meditative process of stitching with modern artistic exploration.

Finely attuned to the cyclical elements of nature, the passage of time, and her fluid feminine identity, Amy employs both painting and embroidery as forms of meditation and poetry. Her practice serves as an ongoing, ever-evolving exploration of self.

With almost a decade of experience working on marketing, social media, and visual storytelling for one of South Africa's leading jewellery brands, she is now flying solo as Visually Amy and expanding her offering and expertise for the wider market.
